What is Decapeptyl used for?

This medication is used as adjunct treatment in assisted reproduction methods (most often as a supplement to hormone stimulation).

How is Decapeptyl administered?

Decapeptyl is administered in the evening by injection under the skin in the lower abdomen. The exact administration time and dosage of this medicine are given in the stimulation protocol that you received at our clinic. The application time must be strictly adhered to!

The medicine is administered from a syringe, before which you must wash your hands thoroughly. It must be injected subcutaneously around the navel, for which we recommend pinching the skin on your abdomen to form a small ‘fold’ and inserting the needle at a 90-degree angle. Don’t forget to disinfect the injection site, and choose a different spot for the next injection. Throw out the used syringe and use a new one for each injection.

How to store Decapeptyl

Decapeptyl must be stored in the refrigerator up to a temperature of 8 °C. It must not be exposed to freezing temperatures. Place it back in its original box to protect it against light.

What are the side effects of Decapeptyl?

Decapeptyl is a generally well-tolerated medicine, but you may experience some side effects – most commonly swelling or bruising at the injection site, fatigue and headache.
