Menopur

What is Menopur used for?

Menopur is a stimulating medicine used to prepare women undergoing assisted reproduction. It promotes the formation and growth of multiple follicles.

How is Menopur administered?

Menopur is injected in the lower abdomen according to instructions by your doctor. Make sure you adhere to the precise dosage and time in the stimulation protocol you received at our clinic. It must be administered at the same time every day.

Before injecting it, you will need to wash your hands and prepare the powder ampoule, the syringe with the solution and the needle. Open the ampoule, insert the needle into the syringe and inject the contents into the ampoule. When the powder in the ampoule is fully dissolved, throw out the syringe and needle. Never shake the ampoule to mix the contents, as this may result in unwanted foaming. Now take the second syringe and fill it up with the required amount according to the stimulation protocol. You can keep the ampoule for future injections, but it needs to be stored in a cool place.

It should be injected around the navel, but we recommend choosing a different spot each time. To make the application easier, pinch the skin on your abdomen to form a small ‘fold’, into which you will insert the needle at a 90-degree angle. Discard the used syringe and needle, and use a new one for each injection.

How to store Menopur

Menopur is best stored in the door of your refrigerator in its original package, which protects it against light and freezing temperatures. Avoid storing Menopur at temperatures over 25 °C.

What are the side effects of Menopur?

Reported side effects are rare, but side effects reported include headache, nausea or sensitivity at the injection site.
